I had discovered that, in Internet Explorer 5.0, any empty cell would display without a border. It was easy to create some simple examples in a Word document. (The border around the image has been added to make the boundaries of the document more clear.)

When converted to HTML, it looks like this. (Remember that this may display correctly if you're using Netscape Navigator.)
